The Library of Virginia’s blogs are intended to inform—and hopefully entertain—readers about our collections and the staff who manage them. Reader feedback is welcome, and you are invited to provide comments on our entries. As such we have created a Comments Policy outlining parameters for reader contributions to all Library blogs.
All blogs are moderated by Library staff who will review submissions prior to posting. Staff will strive to post comments in a timely manner during regular business hours.
The Library will not post comments if any of the following are present:
- Insulting or negative language towards others
- Personal, privacy protected, and/or contact information
- Web site links to unrelated resources, spam, or advertising
- Profanity, potentially libelous, racist or offensive language
- Plagiarism
- Materials protected under copyright laws
- Advertising or political promotion
- Duplicate posts or information
- Unrelated information not relevant to the blog post
Failing to adhere to any of the policies above will result in your comment(s) being blocked from our blogs in their entirety. Library staff will not edit comments in order to make them “postable.” Frequent and/or repeated abuse of our policy will result in a permanent ban from posting comments.
The Library may, from time to time, determine that an existing comment was posted in error. As such, the Library reserves the right to remove any existing comment at any time with no further explanation.
While the Library does not discriminate against any views, our blogs are not a forum for debate; and if comments extend beyond what the Library considers civil or within scope of the blog, staff will end comment strings as they see fit.
In order to post a comment, your name and email address are required. Your email address will not be made publically available and will be used solely in the event we need to contact you concerning your comment. We do not distribute personal information, including e-mail addresses, to any parties outside of the Library of Virginia.
The content of all comments is released into the public domain. Please do not submit anything you do not want available to the general public.
